Large Open High Speed Platforms
Zodiac Hurricane's range of large inboard RIBS is a natural progression as customers see RIBs replacing much larger rigid boats. A 10m Zodiac RIB (approx 33') can perform most of the duties of a larger and heavier boat at a fraction of the operating costs and usually in more hazardous conditions. A large open Zodiac Rib has immense stability and buoyancy due to its air collar or Durarib foam collar that positions the center of gravity far lower than a similar sized rigid boat. Hurricane models in these size ranges are capable of being powered by single or dual engines and available either with GRP or aluminum hulls. All models are available either in mid or aft engine mount configuration. All models in this size range can be transported by aircraft for rapid deployment.
The ZH 920 and 1000
These aluminum hull open Ribs are versatile platforms that can carry troops or supplies. Dual 150 hp diesel stern drive engines can economically power the 9m models for offshore oil rig duties and offer the operator large autonomy and versatility. Alternatively the 10m size can be powered up to dual 350 hp motors and beyond for high-speed enforcement, hostage recovery and military work. Quick release components such as seats and bolsters can easily be removed to provide cargo space and folding superstructures allow the craft to be loaded unto aircraft for rapid deployment.
The ZH 1010
Conceived as a Special Forces craft that can carry 3 crew, 8 Special Forces personnel and 2 Zodiac F470 CRRC's with engines, the Zodiac 1010 is the largest GRP RIB in the current Zodiac range. The original engine layout was designed to optimize the comfort of the passengers in the stern and to allow the use of waterjets. Since then the design has evolved to allow the engines to be moved aft which would allow the deck space to have other uses. Evolution continues with an 11m version becoming available from the same tooling, which offers even more versatility from this successful design.
